DOT Fittings

DOT fittings have been approved by the Department of Transportation for commercial motor vehicles. Universal Power Conversion, Inc. (UPC) supplies DOT Fittings in Push to Connect and in compression styles.

Compression vs Push-to-Connect DOT Fittings, which one is right for you?

Push to Connect DOT Fittings:
  • Pros:
    • Easy install, just slide your tubing into the fitting.
    • Less maintenance.
    • Lower chance of leakage.
  • Cons:
    • Cost more than the DOT compression fittings.

Compression DOT Fitting:
  • Pros:
    • Available in more sizes and configurations.
    • Can support a higher PSI rating.
  • Cons:
    • Require the use of tools to install.
      • The nut on a compression fitting must be tightened correctly in order to create a seal and guard against leakage.
    • Maintenance:
      • Compression fittings often need to be tightened to prevent or to halt leaks.

When deciding which DOT fitting is right for your vehicle, you must take into consideration:
  • Pounds per square inch (PSI) pressure requirements
  • Thread type needed.
  • Type of tubing or hose you are using.
